Walking and Hiking
The Grand Massif and Le Vallée Giffre have an astounding 50 mapped walking itineraries for all levels of walkers. The scenery is spectacular with its mountains, lakes and river valleys. Some lifts are open in the summer to take the hard work out of the climbs enabling walkers to enjoy the high mountain tracks. There really are no excuses! As we are surrounded by beautiful woodland, walking couldn’t be any easier as you can start from right outside our door!
We are happy to suggest itineraries for independent walkers or arrange for guided walks, for example;
- The walk up to Le Lac de Gers is not to be missed. Rated a blue easy walk, it takes 3 hours 40 minutes and climbs up to a height of 1544 metres. Near Le Lac de Gers there is wonderful restaurant so you are sure to have a splendid meal, or simply take a picnic and just relax in the sunshine before returning down the mountain.
- The infamous GR5 route passes through Samoëns on to La Cascade du Rouget and up to Le Lac d’Anterne and finally over the peak down to Le Brévent into Chamonix. A must for any walking enthusiast!
